So Long Joe

A few thoughts on the upcoming race for Shelby County Mayor.  First I'd like to observe I feel we have two reasonably good choices in the upcoming race, which can be a rarity in politics in general these days. Mark Luttrell served the well as sheriff and Joe Ford has done a surprisingly to me, good job of serving the people of Shelby County as interim mayor.  I think both are worthy of the office, but there is one thing I can not get out of my head,  When he sought the interim office, Joe Ford promised he would not seek it in the election.  I can and have forgiven politicians for failing on promises, such as getting certain legislation passed, because they can't control the vote of fellow office holders.  This is not the case here.  Jr ford has gone back on a promise regarding action he is solely and completely responsible for.  long past time we started holding politicians, especially career ones, to the promises they do have complete control over.  The voters need to speak loud and clear and send Joe Ford back to the private sector.
